The History
Of Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care is centuries old.
With advanced technology, it continues to improve and evolve.
Despite much misinformation and doubt surrounding it, chiropractic care is a highly respected branch of health science. With many scientific breakthroughs and evidence in the past hundred years, it’s almost undeniable that chiropractic care has many benefits contributing to optimal health and wellness. With proven results and millions of satisfied patients, chiropractic care has long been the world’s largest natural healing art.
At PCH Chiropractic, we provide a brief look into the history behind chiropractic methodology, practice, and philosophy. We hope this provides insight into the benefits of chiropractic care and how the San Clemente and Dana Point, CA community can take advantage of it. The Peet family can trace its own chiropractic history back to 1913. This is when Dr. Palmer’s grandfather graduated from the Palmer School of Chiropractic.
A Brief History of Chiropractic Science
The first big step in chiropractic care becoming an accepted science happened in the late 19th century. While it has been around for centuries, it wasn’t until 1895 that Dr. D.D. Palmer became the first person to define spinal misalignment, or vertebral subluxation, and diagnose a patient with the condition, as well as correct it using a chiropractic adjustment. Dr. Palmer understood how the body could benefit from proper spinal alignment and the significance relating to spinal pressure on the nerves caused by misalignments.
In the following decades, Dr. Palmer’s son and daughter-in-law worked hard to advance the understanding of chiropractic care. This resulted in the opening of the Palmer School of Chiropractic, which is now a leading research institute for holistic approaches to health care and for scientific advancements associated with chiropractic care.

State Of The Art Chiropractic
The latest scientific and most research based development, Chiropractic Biophysics (CBP), is a highly-advanced chiropractic technique proven to correct and restore your spinal curves back into alignment. CBP uses a combination of biology, physiology, physics, anatomy, and even geometry, making it unique compared to other chiropractic techniques. At PCH Chiropractic, Drs. Palmer and Catherine Peet specialize in CBP technique because of its advanced procedures and proven lasting results.
CBP aims to not only provide relief of symptoms, but identify the cause of symptoms and correct the spine’s structure, so patients can live an optimal life and function with lasting health and wellness.
Benefits of Chiropractic
Regular chiropractic care can help you manage pain and discomfort, as well as improve your flexibility, mobility, posture, and strength. It can also enhance your overall health, decreasing your risk of disease or illness. Drs. Palmer and Catherine Peet at PCH Chiropractic in San Clemente and Dana Point, CA and the approach they take is special.
Chiropractic’s approach to health is new, unique, and very different from traditional allopathic medical care. It doesn’t treat a patient’s symptoms with medication or surgery. Rather, chiropractic strives to remove interference to the nervous system and the subsequent effects that can occur resulting in a potential loss in the ability for the body to heal itself.
In chiropractic we say, “The body is a self healing organism.” So chiropractic adjustments are not given to “cure” the body of any particular symptom or disease. Rather, they are given to restore the body’s innate ability to heal itself. We don’t claim to cure any particular symptom, or ailment. But when the body’s self healing is re-awakened after chiropractic adjustments, in some cases, patients have reported improvements in the following:
● Tinnitus
● Migraines
